Founded by former OpenAI researcher Leopold Aschenbrenner, the fund's main brokers include Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and JPMorgan Chase, who are assisting in meeting leverage requirements and orderly reducing positions. The fund's future is uncertain, and it is considering negotiating asset sales or a comprehensive asset liquidation to meet profit demands. The fund is attempting to increase liquidity by selling stakes in private companies, including its investment in Anthropic. Potential buyers have expressed interest in acquiring some or all of the shares. At the end of the first quarter, the Situational Awareness fund's largest holdings included Nebius, SanDisk, Micron, and CoreWeave, all of which have seen their stock prices drop by over 35% this month. Established in 2024, the fund once reached a size of approximately $20 billion, with net returns as high as 439%, making it one of the star funds in the current AI market, covering major AI infrastructure and computing chain-related companies while using leverage to amplify positions.
