Bitcoin Core is set to enter feature freeze for version v32 on August 20, ending the regular window for new features and prioritizing bug fixes, with a target release in October. As of August 17, the v32 milestone records 17 open issues and 79 closed issues, achieving 82% completion. The translation strings will also be frozen on the same day, and maintainers plan to branch off version 32.x, with v32.0rc1 scheduled for release on September 10, and the target date for marking version v32.0 set for October 10. Among the open issues, two changes show integration difficulties, involving unencrypted v1 outbound clearnet connections and limiting concurrent HTTP clients. There is a wallet-related fix aimed at preserving access to existing Miniscript wallets, along with a report describing wallet errors encountered when upgrading from v29.2 to v31.1. Another open issue pertains to fee estimation, proposing to use only mempool data to reduce the existing block policy suggestions, with the goal of minimizing overpayment without changing the safety limits of the estimator.
