Bitcoin Hashrate Declines for 287 Days, Mining Company Stocks Surge

Bitcoin's hashrate has been declining for approximately 287 consecutive days, while stocks of some publicly listed mining companies have seen significant increases. The mining difficulty for Bitcoin is currently 19.9% lower than its peak, marking the third deepest pullback in the era of ASIC mining. Despite BTC dropping about 46% over the past year, some publicly listed mining companies have seen cumulative gains exceeding 430% during the same period. Analysts point out that the divergence between the decline in Bitcoin and the rise in mining companies is primarily due to these companies reallocating their energy and data center capacities towards AI and high-performance computing. The market is beginning to view them as technology infrastructure companies rather than high-leverage tools for Bitcoin. Currently, key Bitcoin metrics such as hashrate and mining difficulty remain under pressure, but industry stocks are showing a different trend, reflecting a separation between investors' assessments of specific companies in the sector and the fundamental operations of Bitcoin mining.
