Bitget Signs Agreement with Gelephu Mindfulness City in Bhutan
Bitget exchange has signed a cooperation agreement with the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority, allowing the exchange to establish a licensed presence in Bhutan. The agreement aims to create a legal presence in the city, prepare an application for a Financial Services License, and collaborate in operational and regulatory areas. Local activities are subject to necessary approvals, and no license has been granted so far. GMC, a Special Administrative Region in southern Bhutan, seeks to become an international hub for finance and innovation, governed by the Financial Services Act of 2025. Gracy Chen, CEO of Bitget, highlighted Bhutan's long-term vision regarding digital assets and the importance of GMC as an emerging hub. Bhutan utilizes hydropower resources for cryptocurrency mining, as part of a strategy for economic growth and talent retention. Jigdrel Singay, director of the GMC board, stated that Bitget brings global expertise to the development of the local financial ecosystem. Bhutan has also signaled its long-term intentions in December 2025, positioning digital assets as part of its economic development strategy.
