BMO Sets Target Price of $550 for AMD
BMO Capital has initiated coverage on AMD with a target price of $550. This reflects the trend of the artificial intelligence semiconductor competition expanding from standalone GPUs to rack-scale infrastructure. BMO analyst Hasi Kumar evaluates AMD as an AI infrastructure provider rather than just a personal processor company, identifying the Helios rack-scale AI platform as a product that can compete with NVIDIA. Helios is a suite of AI computing products for data centers that integrates GPUs, CPUs, networking, and software. AMD has introduced Helios as the centerpiece of its next-generation AI infrastructure portfolio, announcing a solution that includes 72 MI455X GPUs and 18 sixth-generation EPYC CPUs. Clients include OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, Microsoft, and Oracle, with OpenAI expected to deploy Helios starting in Q4 2026. BMO's analysis is related to the trend of AI semiconductor investments expanding into GPUs, CPUs, and optical components. Shipments of Helios are expected to begin in September.
