Cognition AI, an AI coding startup, is negotiating new investments with a target valuation of over $40 billion. The amount being discussed for the funding is said to exceed $1 billion. Cognition is currently in initial negotiations with investors, and if the deal goes through, the company's valuation could increase by more than 50% compared to the previous investment round. The current annualized revenue run rate is nearing $1 billion, approximately double the figure disclosed in the last investment round. Cognition developed an AI tool named 'Devin', which performs software development tasks such as writing and modifying code. The company raised over $1 billion in May, at which time its valuation was assessed at $26 billion. Cognition's valuation also significantly increased during the investment round in September last year. This investment round is still in the early negotiation stage, and the company may ultimately decide not to proceed with the funding or choose a different funding method with other conditions.
