The problems faced by Wildberries, the largest Russian marketplace, have triggered a crisis in Russia's banking system. Fires at warehouses have exacerbated the situation, which was already complicated by a rise in non-performing loans and a liquidity shortage. Wildberries' total debts to Russian banks amount to 1.3 trillion rubles, with VTB being the largest creditor, holding obligations of 500–600 billion rubles. The massive losses include 500 billion rubles worth of destroyed goods and 500 billion rubles in cash outflows from banks during the first two weeks of July, which is double the figure for June. The current liquidity deficit in the banking system reaches 2.5 trillion rubles. The crisis affects thousands of sellers who relied on short-term loans, potentially leading to a new wave of troubled borrowers. Limited government support options worsen the situation, as the federal budget deficit is around 6 trillion rubles, with the Central Bank's forecast raised to 8 trillion rubles. Issuing rubles to cover losses could trigger inflation and a decline in the purchasing power of the population. Wildberries has lost over 20% of its warehouses due to drone attacks.
