Full Labeling Requirements for Food Products to Return in Ukraine from October 1, 2026

From October 1, 2026, producers and importers of food products in Ukraine will be required to comply with full labeling requirements. The government has canceled the temporary simplifications that have been in place since 2022, which necessitates that businesses ensure packaging reflects the actual composition of the products and provide information in Ukrainian. The temporary rules were introduced at the beginning of the full-scale war due to logistics disruptions and a shortage of packaging materials. Following the cancellation of the simplifications, producers will need to indicate all mandatory information in the state language, ensure that the data on the packaging corresponds to the actual composition of the product, and correctly label the recipe, nutritional value, and allergens. Relocated enterprises can no longer use leftover packaging materials made for other producers. Businesses will need to review the packaging and labeling of products that will be released after October 1 in advance and align them with standard requirements. Products labeled under the temporary rules before the new requirements come into force may be sold until their expiration date. Ukraine continues to harmonize the area of geographical indications with the rules of the European Union.
