Galaxy Digital, a digital asset company, has lowered the probability of the CLARITY Act passing this year from 75% in May to 10%. The bill aims to have two federal regulatory agencies in the U.S. oversee cryptocurrency regulation. U.S. Senators will return to Washington on September 14, followed by about three weeks of work. The Senate schedule indicates that a motion to end debate on advancing the bill will be eligible for a vote on September 15 at 2:15 PM. This motion requires the support of at least 60 Senators. The Republican Party currently holds 53 seats, and even if all Republican Senators support the bill, at least 7 additional Senators from other parties would need to back it. Galaxy Digital stated that unresolved ethical standards, decreased Republican support due to banking lobbying, and the shorter legislative window in September are the main obstacles to the bill's passage this year.
