Gwyneth Paltrow Hosts Private Dinner for Sam Altman, Faces Online Backlash
Gwyneth Paltrow hosted a private dinner for OpenAI CEO Sam Altman at her mansion in the Hamptons, New York, which sparked criticism from netizens. The Hamptons is a vacation spot for the wealthy and celebrities, and Paltrow, who runs the high-end brand Goop, is often accused of being out of touch with ordinary people's lives. The invitation specified that it was a closed-door event, with conversations not to be disclosed. Puck reporter Matthew Belloni commented that spending the summer in the Hamptons has become a way to appease the AI overlord. Netizens expressed that while ordinary people are concerned about the impact of AI on jobs and copyright, celebrities and the wealthy are privately dining with Altman. Paltrow did not apologize; instead, she turned the invitation into a meme, replacing characters with Shrek and others, and announced that the dinner menu would include swordfish tacos and cheddar cheese foam lattes. The dinner is scheduled for August 29, and although the dishes have yet to be served, the related discussions have already sparked heated debates.
