HSBC Hong Kong has notified some existing investment clients in mainland China that they must submit a "Declaration for Opening/Maintaining Accounts" via the HSBC Hong Kong App by September 12, and update their contact information. The declaration must confirm that the investment funds come from legal channels outside mainland China and agree to the bank disclosing personal information under law enforcement or regulatory requirements. If the declaration is not submitted by August 20, investment-related services may be suspended; if it is still not submitted by September 12, services may be terminated. An HSBC spokesperson stated that this move is to comply with regulatory requirements, ensure the currency of client information, and continue providing services. This declaration requirement applies only to investment service clients.
