Inactive Bitcoin Wallet for 15 Years Moves 8.54 BTC with 462,000% Gains
A Bitcoin address that had been inactive for over 15 years recorded activity by transferring 8.54 BTC, valued at approximately $538,000 at the time of the transaction, which was recorded in block 962770. The bitcoins were received between June and September 2006, when their price ranged from $14 to $17 per unit, implying a revaluation of 462,000% since their acquisition. This movement has reignited interest in 'historical whales', addresses that accumulated Bitcoin in the early years of the cryptocurrency. However, the transfer does not necessarily indicate that the owner has sold the funds; it could be part of a custody reorganization or an inheritance strategy. There is no public information about the owner's identity or the final destination of the BTC. Additionally, in recent weeks, other movements from old addresses have been detected, fueling speculation about the decisions of early market participants. Analysts warn that not all movements from old wallets should be interpreted as sell signals, as significant downward pressure requires observing the final destination of the funds.
