Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest made a significant move in the crypto and fintech space this week, purchasing $9.4 million worth of shares in eToro. Ark Invest Buys $9.4 Million in eToro Stake, Shrinks Bitcoin ETF and Blockchain Assets Ark has purchased 140,000 eToro shares for its Fintech Innovation ETF (ARKF). The investment comes as eToro closed its first day of trading up 29% at $67 per share after pricing its IPO at $52 amid stronger-than-expected demand. The company’s path to the public markets was delayed by volatility from the Trump administration’s tariff policies earlier this year. This isn’t the first time Ark has acquired newly listed crypto firms. It bought 750,000 shares of Coinbase in its debut in April 2021. According to Ark’s diversification rules, no asset can make up more than 10% of any fund, meaning eToro’s 0.93% weighting in ARKF ranks 33rd in the portfolio. Top positions include Shopify (9.9%), Coinbase (9.7%) and Robinhood (7.4%). ARK Sells $7.9 Million in Own Bitcoin ETF, Buys Solana Staking Fund In parallel, Ark Invest sold its own spot Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) worth $7.9 million from both its ARKF and Next Generation Internet (ARKW) funds. Despite the sale, ARKB remains the top stock in both portfolios, at No. 1 in ARKW (9.5% weight, $165 million value) and No. 4 in ARKF (6.1% weight, $62 million value). ARKB saw net inflows of $5.2 million on the same day, bringing cumulative inflows to approximately $2.7 billion since its launch in January 2024. The fund currently manages $4.9 billion in assets. Ark also increased its exposure to Solana by purchasing $7.6 million worth of 3IQ’s Toronto-listed Solana staking ETF, which currently has over $10 million in both ARKF and ARKW. This comes amid growing interest in Solana ETFs, which are still awaiting US approval. Bitwise, 21Shares, Grayscale and VanEck are among the firms awaiting SEC decisions. *This is not investment advice.
