The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has deployed a nationwide electronic certificate system on the Avalanche C-Chain, linking over 15 million academic records that can be traced back to 1989. Nearly 1 million students' KCSE certificates for 2025 are now available through the electronic certificate platform. The system is expected to cover approximately 35 million verifiable records in the future, processing millions of new certificates each year across various educational levels, including primary, secondary (KCPE, KCSE), advanced diploma programs, and government teacher certification. KNEC CEO David Njengere stated that candidates can securely access, download, and verify their KCSE certificates online, reducing reliance on paper certificates. The project utilizes the same LegitDoc platform architecture as the digital land records in the Dantewada region of Chhattisgarh, India, and Avalanche has also been used for digital projects by the California Department of Motor Vehicles and Bergen County in New Jersey.
