The controversy surrounding the abandonment of Shibarium is escalating due to the re-indexing of the explorer and the withdrawal of some projects, rather than the potential suspension of the chain itself. Official documents and the status of Chainlink's CCIP indicate continued operations, but user interfaces and the movements of ecosystem participants are causing confusion regarding trust. A contributor from the Mazrael Shiba Inu community claimed, "Shibarium isn't abandoned," explaining that infrastructure and transactions are ongoing. K9 Finance DAO has resolved to suspend Shibarium operations as of January 11, 2026, as stated on their official website, with the termination time set for 2 AM KST on February 26, 2026. However, this only signifies the suspension of K9 Finance DAO's operations, not the complete shutdown of the entire network. Shibarium is introduced as an Ethereum-based Layer 2, including RPC URL, explorer URL, chain ID 109, and currency symbol BONE. Chainlink has stated that multiple cross-chain paths are operational on the Shibarium Mainnet. Confusion has increased due to explorer issues, and Shibarium Scan is currently re-indexing, which may result in incomplete data. According to YouToday, the explorer has only indexed 49% of the blocks, with a daily transaction count of 1,530. Shibarium DEX trading volume has decreased by 97.46% over the past week, with total deposits amounting to just $101,330. Reactions on social media are mixed, raising concerns that it will be difficult to restore user confidence.
