The National Bank of Ukraine is initiating the modernization of the operational design of its interest rate policy aimed at activating the money market and enhancing the effectiveness of monetary policy. The first stage of the reform will come into effect on August 7, 2026, when the NBU will change the mechanism for transactions with three-month deposit certificates, transitioning to interest tenders every two weeks. The volumes of placements will be determined to maintain the attractiveness of hryvnia instruments. Since the beginning of 2026, the volume of term hryvnia deposits from the population has increased by almost 10%, and compared to the beginning of the full-scale invasion, it has doubled. Investments in hryvnia bonds have increased by 1.5 times since the beginning of the year. The NBU plans to gradually improve the operational design while maintaining the rigidity of monetary conditions and control over inflation. Each stage of modernization will be implemented after assessing the results of the previous one.
