Opening of the new border crossing point "Bela Tserkva --- Sighetu Marmației" on the border with Romania
In Transcarpathia, preparations are nearing completion for the opening of the international automobile border crossing point "Bela Tserkva --- Sighetu Marmației". It is expected to begin operations this year for passenger cars. The point will operate on a temporary modular infrastructure until the construction of a permanent complex is completed. Major works have been completed: access roads, transport lanes, and control zones have been arranged, the banks of the Tisza River have been reinforced, and electricity, water supply, and telecommunications have been established, along with infrastructure for border and customs services. After opening, the point will operate around the clock for passenger cars weighing up to 3.5 tons, with a capacity of up to 600 vehicles per day. Deputy Minister Sergey Derkach noted that the launch of the new point will reduce the load on existing crossings and improve transport communication with the EU. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has opened four new crossing points on the border with the EU. On May 14, Romanian representatives showcased the completed infrastructure of the new point, which is part of a project to build a 268-meter bridge over the Tisza River.
