Teachers' Salaries to Increase by 20%, Student Scholarships to Double Starting September

Starting September 1, new social initiatives will come into effect in Ukraine: teachers' salaries will increase by 20%, student scholarships will double, and over 3 million schoolchildren will receive free meals. Prime Minister Sergey Koretsky announced that by the beginning of the school year, the government will complete all necessary preparatory measures, and educational institutions will be ready for operation. During a Cabinet meeting, the Ministry of Education presented a report on preparations for the new school year. The main priority remains the safety of students and teachers, for which the construction of shelters and provision of school buses continues. Koretsky also noted that despite Russian attacks on printing houses, students of all grades will be provided with textbooks. The state budget of Ukraine for 2026 allocates 6.6 billion hryvnias for academic and named scholarships, which is 1.2 billion hryvnias more than in 2025.
