Tom Lee, chairman of Bitmine Immersion Technologies, claims BlackRock's Bitcoin report supports Ethereum (ETH) as a key player in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. BlackRock's report, titled "Re-Underwriting Bitcoin," analyzed Bitcoin's over 50% decline from its October 2025 peak, attributing the shift to capital moving into AI-themed equity funds. Lee, co-founder of Fundstrat, noted that AI capabilities are advancing rapidly and suggested that blockchains and smart contracts are essential for human oversight of AI behavior. He emphasized Ethereum as the most critical base layer, or "L1," for blockchain applications. However, BlackRock's report does not mention Ethereum, robotics, or the verification of AI systems, framing AI-linked equity funds as competition for capital instead. Lee's assertions extend beyond the report, as BlackRock attributes Bitcoin's decline to leverage and fund flow changes rather than a shift in its monetary role. Lee has previously connected Ethereum to the AI sector and holds approximately 4.8% of Ethereum's circulating supply, positioning him as a significant institutional stakeholder. As of August 19, 2026, Ethereum is trading near 1908. The acceptance of Lee's AI and robotics narrative may hinge on practical examples of blockchains verifying autonomous systems.
