Watermelon Prices in Ukraine Rise to 5-12 UAH/kg
Watermelon prices in Ukraine began to rise after the August low. Farmers are selling watermelons for 5-12 UAH/kg depending on quality and region. After the sale of medium varieties ended, market supply decreased, and some producers faced issues with the yield of late varieties. Demand for watermelons has increased over the past two weeks. In 2023, the season started at 35 UAH/kg, rose to 38 UAH/kg in June, then dropped to 12 UAH/kg by the end of August, and climbed to 40 UAH/kg in October. In 2024, the starting price was 25 UAH/kg, increased to 38 UAH/kg in June, and fell to 5 UAH/kg in August, the lowest figure in four seasons. At the end of August, the price rose to 10 UAH/kg, and in September, it was around 8 UAH/kg. In 2025, the season started at 35 UAH/kg, and in July and August, the price dropped to 10-12 UAH/kg, briefly rising to 16 UAH/kg at the end of September. In 2026, watermelons started at 25 UAH/kg, and in July and August, the price fell to 6 UAH/kg, before rising to 7-8 UAH/kg.
