Indra Stock (IDR): Price, the Defense Boom and Board Talking Points
Indra Sistemas, S.A. (Bolsa de Madrid: IDR) is one of the most-discussed industrial names on Spanish investor forums, and the reason is a rare combination: a defence-and-technology group riding Europe's rearmament wave while working through one of the most turbulent boardroom sagas on the IBEX 35. That mix keeps the "foro acciones Indra" threads busy — retail investors want to know whether the order boom is durable and whether the governance drama changes how they should read the numbers.
Indra is a constituent of the IBEX 35 and was, by its own account, the best-performing stock in the index during 2025. The company runs two very different engines: Minsait, its IT and consulting arm (around 57% of FY2025 revenue), and a Defence business (about 26% of revenue) that dominates the growth and backlog story. The Spanish state holding company SEPI owns 28%, making it the largest shareholder. For the record, Indra is actively trading — not suspended, not delisted — and reached an all-time high of €66.15 on 2 March 2026.
Price context: what forum users actually track
This page does not publish a live quote or a price target. What matters for the "foro acciones Indra" conversation is the fundamentals behind each results date. In its FY2025 results (25 February 2026), Indra reported revenue of €5,457M (+13%), net profit of €436M (+57%) and a total backlog of €16,083M (+122%), beating all its guidance. Defence order intake reached €8,160M in 2025 (versus €4,303M in 2024), with a defence backlog of €11,336M. The Q1 2026 update showed revenue of €1,334M (+14.6%) and backlog up to €20,334M, with 2026 guidance above €7bn of revenue. Those are the reference numbers most forum posts cite when debating whether the shares are cheap or already price the boom in.
Board talking points: what investors are discussing
These are the recurring storylines on Spanish forums — framed as what people debate, not as predictions, and with no attributed quotes.
- The Escribano chairmanship collapse. Ángel Escribano was appointed Executive Chairman in January 2025 (replacing Marc Murtra, who left to run Telefónica) and resigned on 1 April 2026 after Indra's proposed acquisition of his family firm EM&E was withdrawn on 19 March 2026 on conflict-of-interest grounds; the shares fell as much as ~19% intraday. Ángel Simón became non-executive chairman on 2 April 2026, alongside CEO Josep Maria Recasens. Forum users treat board stability — the fourth chairman in five years — as the central question.
- SEPI's dual role. The state holds 28% as owner and is a major defence customer, and its de facto veto is widely credited with killing the EM&E deal. Investors debate what that means for related-party discipline and for future M&A.
- The EM&E stake, now zero. Escribano's family stake peaked at 14.3% (December 2024) and was sold in full on 5 May 2026 through an accelerated placement of roughly €1.322bn; his brother Javier also left the board. This removed a large overhang but reshaped the register.
- Defence "national champion" versus Minsait value. With no formal spin-off, Indra is instead divesting Minsait pieces (Minsait Business Consulting to Waterland, ~€125–150m, around May 2026) to fund the defence build-out. The debate is whether the ~57%-of-revenue IT arm is under-appreciated inside a defence story.
- Dividend and ITP Aero. The FY2025 dividend of €0.30/share (+20%) was paid on 9 July 2026, with no broad buyback. Separately, Indra holds 9.5% of ITP Aero and the government/SEPI have pushed (June 2026) to raise the stake, but Bain has refused to cede control — no increase had been signed as of mid-July 2026.
Outlook: catalysts and dates to watch
The qualitative outlook is a backlog-conversion story on top of a structural rearmament tailwind — the EU "ReArm Europe / Readiness 2030" plan (up to €800bn, announced 4 March 2025) and Spain's push toward the NATO 2% spending threshold. Indra's own 2026 guidance points above €7bn of revenue, and the €20,334m Q1 backlog frames the delivery challenge ahead. Governance itself is a watch-item: the Simón/Recasens team is unproven together, and two CNMV threads remain under review — a Hay Derecho Foundation complaint (October–November 2025) over the EM&E related-party process, and, as the government disclosed on 8 July 2026, a CNMV analysis of the 5 May 2026 stake sale. Both are ongoing and unproven; nothing here is a forecast, and no wrongdoing has been established. It is simply the calendar investors line up against.
The forum crowd and the crypto crossover
Spanish retail investors who research single-stock stories like Indra on forums increasingly follow crypto markets in the same session — the two audiences overlap heavily. If that describes you, it is worth understanding how a dedicated crypto exchange handles trading before you commit any capital.
WEEX is a crypto exchange built around crypto futures, with deep liquidity on major pairs and access to both spot and derivatives. To be clear: Indra shares do not trade on WEEX — IDR is an equity listed on the Bolsa de Madrid. WEEX is where you would trade crypto (for example BTC or ETH perpetual futures), not Spanish equities.
