PharmaMar Stock (PHM): Price, the Zepzelca Trial and Board Talking Points
Pharma Mar, S.A. — branded PharmaMar, the former Grupo Zeltia — trades on the BME under the ticker PHM (US OTC: PHMMF). It is an oncology biotech focused on marine-derived anticancer drugs, led by lurbinectedin (Zepzelca), alongside trabectedin (Yondelis), plitidepsin and ecubectedin. A point worth noting for forum readers: PharmaMar is not a member of the IBEX 35 — it was removed effective 19 December 2022 (replaced by Logista) and now sits in the IBEX Medium Cap, and was not readmitted at the 2026 reviews. Its high binary-event profile keeps it heavily discussed in Spanish investor forums (foros de accionistas).
Price context
This page does not offer a price target. The fundamentals shareholders reference: for financial year 2025 (reported around 26 February 2026) PharmaMar posted revenue of €221.4m (+27%) and net profit of about €75m (+187%), with cash of €167.8m and net cash of €121.2m. First-quarter 2026 net profit was €1.5–1.59m (versus a loss a year earlier) on sales of €42.9m (+10%) — figures reported before the June clinical setback described below. The shares fell sharply after that news. For a live quote, check your broker or the BME feed.
Board talking points — what investors are discussing
1. The LAGOON trial failure. On 12 June 2026 Jazz Pharmaceuticals announced that the confirmatory Phase 3 LAGOON trial did not meet its primary endpoint (overall survival) in second-line metastatic small-cell lung cancer (SCLC). LAGOON was the confirmatory obligation for a 2020 accelerated approval, so that second-line monotherapy accelerated approval is now at regulatory risk, and Jazz is discussing next steps with the FDA. This is the dominant 2026 story.
2. Two distinct FDA approvals — keep them separate. It is important not to conflate them: (a) the June 2020 accelerated approval of Zepzelca as a monotherapy in second-line SCLC — the one now under a cloud after LAGOON; and (b) a 2 October 2025 full approval of lurbinectedin in combination with atezolizumab (Tecentriq) as first-line maintenance in extensive-stage SCLC (the IMforte trial) — this newer, larger franchise stands. The pivot to that first-line combination as the growth engine is a key thread.
3. Concentration risk. PharmaMar's dependence on a single molecule (lurbinectedin) and a single US partner (Jazz) is a recurring topic. Under the December 2019 license, Jazz paid $200m upfront, with up to $250m in regulatory and $550m in commercial milestones and tiered royalties (high-teens to 30%) on US net sales; the October 2025 first-line approval is the new royalty driver, with LAGOON the offset.
4. Cash and the proposed dividend. A dividend of €1.00 per share was proposed on the FY2025 results (charged to share premium), subject to AGM approval. Holders weigh it against roughly €124m of net cash and about €95m of annual R&D spend.
5. Volatility and index status. As an IBEX Medium Cap biotech with heavy binary-event exposure, PharmaMar's volatility is itself a talking point.
Outlook
The qualitative outlook is unusually binary: the near-term question is whether the FDA withdraws or preserves the 2020 second-line monotherapy approval after the failed confirmatory trial, against a first-line IMforte franchise that remains approved. The pipeline includes ecubectedin (PM14) in an early Phase 1/2 basket trial, but concentration on lurbinectedin remains high. This is an elevated-risk, founder-controlled name (chairman José María Fernández Sousa-Faro has led it since the Zeltia era); position it accordingly.
For the retail investor
PharmaMar is most naturally read alongside other Spanish healthcare and index names, though its risk profile is very different from a large-cap blue chip. See our companion page on Grifols, another Spanish biopharma name, and on the large caps Banco Santander and Inditex for contrast.
Many retail investors who follow higher-volatility shares like PharmaMar also diversify part of their attention into digital assets. WEEX is a crypto exchange offering crypto futures and spot markets, with a futures-first range for traders who want leverage and hedging on assets such as Bitcoin and Ether. To be clear: PharmaMar shares do not trade on WEEX — the equity trades on the BME. WEEX is a separate venue for the crypto side of a diversified watchlist.
