CoinWorld reported:
Robinhood has begun offering crypto trading services in the UK, allowing eligible users to trade over 50 digital assets within its main investment app. This new service integrates crypto assets with stocks, ISAs, options, and futures in a single application, demonstrating the company's ongoing efforts to merge traditional investment products with its digital asset business on one platform.
Provided by Bitstamp UK
The service is provided by Bitstamp UK Ltd. Robinhood stated that UK users can buy and sell a variety of crypto assets directly within the existing app, including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Hyperliquid.
Robinhood claims that there are no trading fees for crypto transactions, nor are there account maintenance or custody fees. However, the platform will charge a 0.1% foreign exchange conversion fee, with some weekend exchange rates potentially rising to 0.3%.
Bitstamp UK is registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) as a crypto asset service provider. Robinhood also noted that crypto asset holdings under this service are not covered by the UK's Financial Services Compensation Scheme or the Financial Ombudsman Service.
First Batch Supports Over 50 Tokens
This launch covers over 50 digital assets, with key currencies including Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Hyperliquid. Robinhood indicated that the functionality for external crypto asset transfers in and out will not be available at launch but will be added as the UK service progresses.
This is part of Robinhood's continued expansion of its crypto business following its acquisition of Bitstamp. With the launch in the UK market, the company's digital asset business is further integrated into its broader investment product ecosystem.
Simultaneous Launch of Crypto Market AI Tool
Robinhood also introduced a generative AI feature called Cortex Digests for Crypto, designed to explain daily price fluctuations. This tool combines breaking news, market data, technical indicators, and Robinhood's proprietary information to generate explanatory content for individual crypto assets.
The company stated that the goal of this feature is to help users understand market changes rather than simply drive trading. The tool will initially be used in conjunction with the UK crypto service launch.
Stock Price and Performance Under Scrutiny
Robinhood's parent company stock, trading under the ticker HOOD, reported $93.82 during intraday trading, up about 0.43%. The article also mentioned that market analysts generally remain bullish on the stock, although the target price ranges provided by different institutions vary widely.
In terms of performance, Robinhood's crypto trading revenue for the second quarter was $100 million, a 38% year-on-year decline; the forecast for market business revenue is $156 million. During the same period, the company's total net revenue grew by 32% year-on-year to $1.31 billion, with a net profit of $573 million.
With the launch of crypto trading services in the UK, Robinhood has further expanded its product line in the local market, providing a new growth avenue for its digital asset business.
