A violent break-in occurred during the night of August 24 to 25 in Jouy-en-Josas, where three criminals extorted digital funds from a 47-year-old man. The victim was kidnapped and beaten for nearly two hours to obtain his crypto passwords. Although the attackers aimed for several million euros, the amount stolen was limited to about 3,000 euros. After the suspects left, the occupant managed to free himself and alert the authorities. The Versailles Anti-Banditry Brigade is investigating this case, which illustrates a rise in extortions targeting cryptocurrency owners in Île-de-France. Home infiltration methods and physical coercion are increasingly being used, often based on erroneous estimates of the victims' assets. Judicial police services are adapting their surveillance measures to counter these violent attacks.
