The Bitcoin Security Consortium has been established to enhance the institutional security of Bitcoin against quantum risks. Presented by Strategy, this group aims to fund long-term security work for Bitcoin, particularly in post-quantum cryptography. The consortium includes major players such as Anchorage Digital, ARK Invest, BlackRock, Block, Blockstream, Coinbase, Fidelity Digital Assets, and Galaxy. The founding members are committed to investing $15 million over three years, with the freedom to allocate funds to developers and researchers of their choice. The primary goal is to ensure transparency in advancements related to quantum risk preparedness, providing reliable information to investors and the general public. Strategy emphasizes that the quantum risk is not immediate but could arise in the coming years, and that the consortium has no control over Bitcoin.
