TCE-GO Investigates Irregularities in AI Blockchain Project Funded by Public Money
The Goiás State Court of Accounts has initiated a Special Accounting Review to investigate irregularities in a blockchain project utilizing artificial intelligence, funded by public money. The decision came after the final accounting report of a beneficiary of the Centelha 2 GO Program, launched in 2021 to support innovative ventures, was rejected. The name of the company under investigation and the amount raised have not been disclosed, but the 50 selected projects could raise up to 60,000 reais. The investigation was prompted by the company's failure to implement the AI and blockchain functionalities, which were the technological differentiators of the project. During a technical visit, the project's infeasibility and discontinuation were confirmed. In addition to failing to deliver the promised technology, the company faced business issues and accounting failures. The project resulted in the definitive cancellation of the company's CNPJ. FAPEG appointed a Permanent Special Accounting Committee, chaired by Benitees Pereira Miranda, to investigate the facts and quantify damages to public coffers. The group will have 180 days to complete its work and submit the records to TCE-GO, with the documentation to be submitted to the State General Comptroller within 120 days.
