Ukraine Seeks UK Support in Drone Defense and Production

Ukraine is expecting long-term defense support from the United Kingdom, focused on air defense, the supply of Gripen fighters equipped with Meteor missiles, and the expansion of drone production. Ukraine's acting Minister of Defense, Yevhen Khmara, discussed these issues with UK Defense Secretary Grant Shapps. Ukraine reported on the current situation on the battlefield and its defense needs. The UK guarantees support of at least £3 billion per year. Khmara emphasized the need for radars to counter missile threats, which is critical for protecting cities and infrastructure. The enhancement of Ukraine's air capabilities, including the Gripen supply project, was also discussed. The parties agreed on the delivery of hundreds of anti-drone missiles this year. Ukraine plans to increase funding for drone production using frozen Russian assets, which will allow for scaling up their capabilities. Khmara noted Ukraine's unique experience in modern warfare and the importance of the UK as a partner. It was previously reported that the technology for electronic warfare, Stone Cloak, was transferred to protect drones from Russian air defense systems.
