Zamanat Launches $100 Million Tokenized Fund for GCC SMEs
Zamanat is launching a tokenized private credit fund targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) with a maximum size of $100 million. The company announced that the 'Zamanat Fund CEIC Limited' will be structured as a closed-end exempt fund under the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), with fund shares issued as 'ZM1 Investment Tokens'. The fund will operate on ZIGChain, and investors must meet the professional client requirements set by the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA). Zamanat explained that tokenization adds a structure to record ownership of fund shares and the settlement process on the blockchain. It was noted that the funding gap for GCC SMEs reaches $250 billion, with only about 11% being accessible through credit. Zamanat described this fund as the first real deployment of a 'digital Sharia asset' strategy that combines Islamic finance and digital assets. However, the scale of investor recruitment and the actual amount of loans executed by the fund have not been disclosed. Currently, the confirmed stage involves the fund formation plan and the disclosure of the tokenization structure, while the completion of the actual setup requires further verification.
